Brief.
Set within a beautiful 1840s stone-built home, the clients were looking for a kitchen that better suited their lifestyle, a space that felt elegant, welcoming, and designed for cooking, entertaining, and relaxing by the fire. With a love of classic design, good wine, and hosting friends, the brief focused on reconfiguring the layout to improve flow, make the most of the natural light, and create practical, closed-off zones for the pantry and utility.
Design.
The kitchen was relocated to make better use of natural light and create a more balanced layout. High ceilings, original cornicing and a detailed ceiling rose now frame a calm, considered kitchen zone. The darker end of the room was reworked into a series of practical spaces, a bar, utility and pantry, each designed to maximise storage while co-ordinating seamlessly with the main kitchen.
A soft taupe backdrop runs throughout, bringing a calm, understated feel to the space. Tall and wall cabinetry from our signature handmade furniture collection ‘Darling Maeve’ and features the slim-frame ‘Hockney’ shaker door painted in ‘Cotton Tail’ paired with SieMatic base cabinets detailed with a bronze SLX profile for a more angular, contemporary contrast. The island, finished in a dark wood-effect, adds warmth and texture, while marble-effect porcelain worktops bring the palette together. The layout also creates a natural place to sit by the fire and opens up views to the garden, grounding the kitchen in its setting.
Project Features.
Darling Maeve – our handmade furniture range – cabinetry with ‘Hockney’ slim shaker style door and oak internals used on the tall and wall cabinets, painted in a soft beige colour. SieMatic SLX furniture used on the base cabinets in ‘Stone grey’ and ‘Oolong Oak’ finishes with bronze profiles with integrated LED lighting. Porcelain worktops in Atlas Plan ‘Calacatta Imperiale’. Fisher & Paykel appliances, BORA hob & extractor, Quooker tap. Co-ordinating Bar, Utility Room, Pantry all in SieMatic.
